David Ferry - Actor
As an actor David has worked on and off Broadway, at Canada's Stratford Festival and across Canada. In 2007 he performed in the cast of Orpheus Descending at the Royal Alex Theatre. In 2006 he played the Defendant in the Canadian Premiere of David Mamet's Romance and starred in The Gambler at ArtWord Theatre in Toronto. He played Rolly in the George Walker hit Escape from Happiness at Factory Theatre. In 2005 he played Donny in Walker's Adult Entertainment and End of Civilization. He has been nominated for three Dora acting awards including a 2004 Dora best acting award for his performance as Teddy in Hockey Mom, Hockey Dad at Toronto's Factory Theatre (and the resulting tour). He can be seen later this season in Eternal Hydra for Crows Theatre at Buddies; in Smokescreen for Roseneath at Passe Murialle; in Alias Godot at Taragon and in Moris Panych's new adaptation of Moby Dick at the Stratford Festival. Recent TV and film work includes Across the River in Motor City (premiering on CITY TV in November 2007); Man of the Year with Robin Williams; Boondock Saints with Willem Dafoe; Metropolitan Hotel; This is Wonderland; Paradise Falls; Prom Queen. He is a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and has his MFA in Theatre Directing from the University of Victoria. He is a proud native son of Newfoundland.
Amy Rutherford - Actor
Amy studied at The National Theatre School of Canada and Stratford Conservatory of Canada. Recent theatre highlights include Volcano Theatre's Goodness (Edinburgh Festival, New York/PS122) Noble Parasites (Theatre Passe Muraille); Director's Cut (Crow's Theatre); The Shape of Things (The Centaur); Tequila Vampire Matinee (Theatre Passe Muraille - Dora Mavor Moore Award Nominee for Outstanding Female in a Principal Role); Blithe Spirit (The Grand Theatre); and Twelfth Night (Resurgence Theatre). Recent TV and Film credits: Murdoch Mysteries (Bravo), Angela's Eyes (Lifetime), Naked Josh (Showcase) and Four Minutes (ESPN).
Dusan Dukic - Actor/Producer
Dusan is a founding member of Dark Horse Theatre and a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada. Recent stage credits include: Edward Bond's Have I None (April Productions), Moliere (TIFT), Nathan the Wise, Hamlet (Soulpepper). Film and TV credits include: ZOS (Zone of Seperation), Lovebites Season II, Kojak, The Terminal, Missing, Delta State, Amnesia, Instant Star, May Day, 72 Hours, Soul Food, The Mall. Also an accomplished musician, Dusan plays guitar, mandolin, bouzouki, tambura, piano, and composes music inspired by eastern European Gypsy and flamenco rhythms. Dusan would like to thank his family and his friends for their support.
Thelon Oeming - Playwright/Producer
Thelon is proud to call Parkdale home for the past 5 years. In this time he has written and produced several radio plays and documentaries heard on CBC Radio, ABC Radio, Chicago Public Radio and podcast on the internet. Thelon was a member of Factory Theatre's new play development lab from 2004 to 2006 where he developed Lullaby. He is also a graduate of the National Theatre School of Canada and a founding member of Dark Horse Theatre.
Jennifer H. Capraru - Director/Dramaturg
Jen is Artistic Director of the award-winning Theatre Asylum, where credits include The Trials, BeBe, My Mother's Courage, and The Gut Girls, in co-production with Passe Muraille, Saydie Bronfman, Intrepid Theatre, and The Theatre Centre. She is Associate Dramaturg at Factory Theatre as well as directing numerous plays for the Summerworks and Fringe festivals. She is a Course Director at York-Glendon, and was a guest Director and Lecturer at Acadia University, for whom she directed The Illusion, and the University of Victoria, where she directed Metamorphoses. Also active in film, she was 2nd Script Supervisor in Rwanda on Shake Hands with the Devil, which led her to accept an invitation to return to give workshops for the Rwanda Cinema Centre, and work in theatre for development for Unicef, the University of Rwanda, Kivu Writers, Aegis Trust, and Mashirika Arts. Currently she is founding the theatre NGO Isangano in Rwanda with a partner. Jen has been nominated for the John Hirsch and Pauline McGibbon Awards, and was an invited director to the Lincoln Centre's Director's Lab in NYC.
Tamara Marie Kucheran - Set & Costume Designer
Originally from Victoria, British Columbia, Tamara has designed sets and costumes for theatre companies across Canada.
Tamara most recently designed The Drawer Boy (set and costume) for Theatre Passe Muraille. Other design credits include Peter Hinton's
Fanny Kemble (set and costume) for the Stratford Festival; Amadeus (set) and The Mystery of Irma Vep (costume) for Theatre Aquarius; Metamorphosis (costume) and That Elusive Spark (costume) for The Phoenix Theatres (Victoria); Master Harold and the Boys (set and costume) for Prairie Theatre Exchange, Two Weeks, Twice a Year (set and costume) for The Lorraine Kimsa Theatre for Young People; Unity, 1918 (set and costume) for The Great Canadian Theatre Company, District of Centuries (costume) and Billy Nothing (costume) for Theatre S.K.A.M.; and Gynty (Peer Gynt) (set and costume) for Theatre Columbus. Tamara received a Dora Mavor Moore nomination for outstanding set design for The Teenage Girl Diaries. Tamara is a graduate of The University of Victoria and The National Theatre School of Canada.
Sandra Marcroft - Lighting Designer
Over the past decade Sandra Marcroft has designed the lighting for close to one hundred Theatre and Dance productions and variety shows.
Her designs have been nominated three times for Dora Mavor Moore awards and she has twice received a Dora for Outstanding Lighting Design.
Sandra worked for three seasons at the Shaw Festival as an Assistant Lighting Designer. She has worked as Associate Lighting Designer on a number of
productions and tours including the well known 2 Pianos 4 Hands which toured to the US and Japan. Most recently her work has been seen in Funny Business
The Musical (Good Company Entertainment). Sandra is a member of The Associated Designers of Canada.
John Shisko - Sound Designer
John cannot seem to get away from theatre. A network TV & film editor with a BFA in Film Production from York University, his theatre roots are strong,
but need frequent watering. After five years touring with Tanglewood/Paquin Entertainment, he recently played in Nevada, the last of all 48 continental States.
As well, he has designed and engineered nine shows for the Randolph Academy including A Chorus Line, Godspell and Urinetown. He thanks Dark Horse for the chance to
mount this wonderful new play.
sandra Hendersen - Stage Manager
sandra is a feisty theatre practitioner. She has had the pleasure of working on projects such as We Need Help! (Clay & Paper Theatre), Have I None (April Productions), Go Forth and Multiply (Summerworks), The Order of Good Cheer and The Essence of Ambrose Ichor (Shadowland Theatre), and others as a stage manager. In other capacities, ranging from technician to box office staff to production assistant, sandra has joined forces with the Toronto Opera Repertoire, Theatre Rusticle, Solar Stage Children's Theatre, and Factory Theatre. She recently began fulfilling her passion for directing with the war allegory Aria da Capo at U of T's drama program. Recently released from the clutches of U of T academia where she studied political science and drama, sandra is thrilled to be working with Dark Horse Theatre.
